Skills Development and Professional Training
At iCLO, we do not deliver generic off-the-shelf training programs.
Every engagement starts with a real operational or production challenge identified by our client. We then work closely with the client’s technical teams to understand the root cause of the issue, identify the right domain expert from our international trainer network, and co-develop a customized training program aligned to the specific ore body, process flowsheet, equipment, and site conditions.
Our trainers engage with the client team ahead of delivery to tailor materials, case studies, and exercises to real production use-cases - ensuring that the training directly equips teams to address their operational challenges.
Skills Development Case Studies
Case 1:
Design and Delivery of a Technical Training Program for Beneficiation Operations
Challenge:
The client sought to develop a technically comprehensive training program for process engineers and metallurgists, in line with internal standards and aimed at scaling the program through internal trainers in a large mining organization.
Our Solution:
The iCLO team conducted an in-depth data collection process, including equipment manuals, flow diagrams, technical documentation, and design parameters. A site visit was arranged to observe actual production chains, processing stages, and operational equipment. Based on this, we structured a customized training program, aligned with the client's technological environment, and created modules, cases, visual content, and assessment tools.
Training Delivered:
3-day (24 academic hours) classroom training, focused on:
-
Mineral classification and ore types
-
Processing methods: crushing, grinding, classification, beneficiation
-
Flotation: principles, flowsheets, reagents
-
Modern methods for concentrate preparation
-
Hands-on exercises and pre/post-training testing
Outcome:
Outcome assessment in progress. Performance impact evaluation scheduled with client’s technical leadership following pilot group completion.
Case 2:
Hydraulic System Diagnostics & Practical Maintenance Training for Large-Class Excavators
Challenge:
A major mining operator faced recurring challenges in diagnosing and calibrating hydraulic systems on large-class excavators. Standard local service providers limited their support to basic component replacement, without providing full-system tuning, which led to increased downtime and performance inconsistencies. Internal teams lacked confidence in troubleshooting high-pressure circuits and electronic valve control logic.
Our Solution:
iCLO engaged with the client to collect detailed data on the existing fleet, fault patterns, and staff technical proficiency. We identified a senior field specialist with OEM experience and co-developed a tailored program. The training plan was aligned with on-site maintenance realities and validated with technical leadership ahead of delivery.
Training Delivered:
The 8-day training included 3 days of theory and 5 days of intensive fieldwork on the client’s actual equipment—ranging from units in preventive maintenance to fully operational machines. Key modules covered hydraulic diagnostics, valve calibration, fault tracing, and system tuning based on real machine data.
Outcome:
Outcome assessment in progress. Performance impact evaluation scheduled with client team.
Case 3:
Executive Leadership Acceleration for Operational Transformation
Challenge:
A multinational industrial company with a large presence in Kazakhstan launched a leadership acceleration initiative for Territory Managers and department heads. The General Manager aimed to strengthen strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and execution discipline while addressing real operational constraints, workforce readiness gaps, and site-level decision-making challenges.
Our Solution:
iCLO initiated a comprehensive preparation phase: we assembled an international team of five senior experts, conducted individual interviews with each participant, and performed a 360-degree leadership assessment. Based on collected insights, we designed individual development plans (IDPs) and mapped them to business priorities and operational realities. A fully customized five-module program was then developed, ensuring logical progression across leadership, communication, performance management, and execution excellence.
Training Delivered:
Five interconnected modules (1–2 days each), combining executive workshops, real operational casework, and applied leadership practice. Between modules, we tracked individual progress, reviewed assignments, and held dedicated follow-up sessions to adjust IDPs and reinforce behavioral change.
Outcome:
Outcome assessment in progress. Performance impact evaluation scheduled with client team.
